Spring Energy-Saving Tips

Spring is in the air! We all know that in NC, spring can mean an 80-degree day or a 60-degree one, leading your home to be just as confused about what temp to set it at as you are. With that in mind, there are ways that you can save energy in your home and help it run more efficiently all season long. Here are some tips!

Use Energy-Saving Lighting

Swap your lightbulbs for energy-efficient ones if you don’t use them already. This can save you both money and time spent going to the store to consistently replace them.

Install a Programmable Thermostat

A smart thermostat has the ability to learn a household’s pattern and adjust heating and cooling according to when you are home or away. You can even create temperature settings based on daily schedules, weather conditions, home zones, heating and cooling needs, and more.

Switch to Energy-Efficient Appliances

Energy-efficient appliances, fans, and electronics can help save you tons of money in the long run. They typically don’t need to be serviced as often either. It’s a win-win!

Replace Your Air Filters

You should be replacing your air filters regularly, as all the dust they collect can hinder your home’s energy efficiency. It’s recommended that you replace them every three months, or, if you have a pet, every two months.

Open the Windows

A nice spring breeze can help cool down your home without having to turn on the AC. The fresh air also cleans out a stuffy home after it’s been sealed up all winter. Additionally, during the daytime, open those blinds to let some natural sunlight in!

Turn on Bathroom Fans

Fun fact: Bathroom fans suck out heat and humidity from your home, helping to improve overall comfort. Use them to your advantage!
